Givenchy Fall/ Winter 2011 2012

Althought this wasnt my favorite collection from Givenchy lately(Im sorry to say this) as the shapes were a bit more mature, the concept of the prints blew me away. The fashion house was on point with the seasons hues (although i wish fashion would veer away from purple and green a little), using them to contrast junglelicious jaguar prints. Strong, seductive, in your face. Creative to say the least, this collection was more about covering the skin with visual stimulation than attract you with well though out cut outs (which im all for).

Many of the pieces were to die for (such as the see through chiffon blouses), however i would have paired them with younger bottoms. Overall I i like Ricardo's collections as always and I appreciate  his taste, now if could only afford his clothing!

Creators of Masterpieces

We are all the makers  and the destroyers of our own destiny. We are enthusiasts of personal creation. We get up every morning and either paint another landscape portrait or render a masterpiece (and yes im talking about clothes)

What is my design aesthetic?

People constantly tell me they get my design aesthetic. It must something i put in every garment i design unknowingly. I find that hard to swallow as internally i tend to purge my personal inspirational references however  there must be some traces left over if people say so. Personally i get bored of details fairly quickly and tend to look for something new (something most designers do, specially people like Karl Lagerfield) 

For example, when i made this Coat i had never worked with plaid, done draping on a skirt of a coat before and therefore to me felt completely fresh. Of course classmates swore this was so me. Is there something about what one present from the inner being that no matter how different represents the same soul? Is there such a thing as spiritual design or at least a metaphysical resonance that goes beyond fabric and thread? Am I that naive that i don't see this in my own work. Anyhow this picture makes me ask the question, Is wearing shorts with cowboy boots super gay?

Givenchy Couture FW 11-12

I wanted to immerse my self further in the Givenchy theme as many of you know that it would be my dream to one day be involved with the Givenchy House. I was exited to see this particular collection as it has previously   called  my attention when i saw this look. I think that the construction of each piece is spectacular and whoever is lucky enough to buy any of these looks will transcend to  different realm of fashion.

Givenchy Spring Summer 2012

Riccardo Tisci took  us on the great white way this season with an innovative (as always) collection that mashes the slick industrial girl with a soft reflection of spring. Her silhouette is softer compared to last fall and so is her character on the catwalk as one can see with the styling of every model. That being said it is undeniable that with this collection he created once again key pieces that will likely be seeing in every fashion magazine world wide. Pieces such as the over sized shark tooth necklace and the upside down notch collar blazer are sure to become a publication favorite as well as the spike strapped Mary Janes. However what is most impressive as always is the tailoring. Every piece in this collection screams exclusivity and luxury. In my opinion the amazing thing about this line is it comprehension of construction and the ability infuse cool to everything they put on the show. Riccardo Tisci knows how to keep Givenchy strong and is surely their best creative director yet.

To describe what i feel for Givenchy would mean that i would compare all my thoughts on what is the epitome of cool and exceptional design philosophy. It has become more clearer in last few seasons that they are moving design wise in the derection that will spring the company once again to the store front of fashion week.     To sum it up, I love Givenchy!!

A sea of Destruction/Creation

What a day to start a blog. I'm inundated with paper cuttings leftovers from a night of drawing. I am in the process of finishing my application to participate in the fusion fashion show. There is a sea of markers, pencils, magazines and inspirations. I have laid out my heart and soul to this collection and i can only imagine the moment i get accepted to participate. Well its its time to clean up now, i leave with one of the drawings of my "ETHERAL" collection
